ArtiCAD-Pro and BathCAD Version 17 is now available to download from the ArtiCAD Members Area for users with a current Annual Support Plan in place.
This long-awaited enhancement includes a wealth of new features and graphics including ArtiCAD HD – a new, additional photo-realistic rendering option and a superb VR Walkthrough mode, which enables you to readily set camera positions, edit items in your design and flip back and forth to photo-realism. There are also huge improvements to the photorealism lighting and a new advanced texture editor to give you even greater ability to refine your sales presentations. ArtiCAD’s on-line manual has been updated to reflect the V17 enhancements and now includes video tutorials to help you master the latest version.

This makes standard Virtual Reality walkthroughs a thing of the past. Designers are able to ‘move’ seamlessly around their design with superior quality graphics.
Additional features include the ability to ‘orbit’ the room design and view the design as it rotates plus the ability to switch from Walkthrough to photo-realistic mode at the press of a button. This in turn means that setting a camera view for a photo-realistic image is made simple and much faster than before as the designer can arrive at the ideal view in walkthrough mode then simply select photo-realism to render the required image.
Any item within the design can be selected and edited in walkthrough mode – also enhancing the speed of design and eliminating the need to switch from one mode to another.
VR-Pro controls have been set to match the controls of the previous ArtiCAD VR mode. When switching from VR-Pro to photorealism you can go back to VR in the middle of a render.

For the first time,lighting behaves inthe designs in exactly the same way that it would in real life – thus delivering even greater realism to all ArtiCAD-Pro and BathCAD designs.

ArtiCAD’s Supplier Partnership Programme is going from strength to strength as an increasing number of manufacturers and suppliers to the KBB industry join forces with us to bring you the latest and greatest choice of products to incorporate into your designs – all available as easy to search graphics catalogues within the latest version of ArtiCAD-Pro.

Franke Kitchen Systems Group is one of the latest companies in South Africa to become a member of the ArtiCAD Supplier Partnership Programme.
The company has an innovative range of intelligent hygiene systems for both commercial and domestic sectors. The domestic range is now being included as a comprehensive graphics catalogue within the ArtiCAD-Pro software.
Designers wishing to use Franke’s products can simply search the catalogue and then drag & drop the selected items into their design to provide customers with a detailed, extremely accurate 3D representation of the new room.
Working with CAD
Franke has been working with two different CAD products for a number of years, both of which are specifically targeted towards architects who use the company’s products as part of their work in the commercial sector.

However in mid-2010, several of Franke’s distributors started encouraging the company to look at the ArtiCAD-Pro software. Leigh-Anne Robertson, Marketing Co-ordinator, Franke Kitchen Systems: “We could see immediately that ArtiCAD-Pro was an excellent tool for all kitchen unit manufacturers and designers as it enables them to provide their customers with a fully rendered, 3D lifestyle view of the proposed layout.”
Having joined the ArtiCAD Supplier Partnership Programme, all Franke Kitchen sinks and sink mixers are now available within the ArtiCAD-Pro software. Leigh-Anne: “We are pleased by the precision and accuracy of the details in the 3D rendered graphics of our products.
Assessing the benefits
Leigh-Anne and her colleagues at Franke believe strongly in the importance of CAD in their industry. “It enables the designer to view our entire domestic product range, in great detail, and then to select the best possible solution for their client.”
For Franke, membership of the ArtiCAD Supplier Partnership has brought greater brand awareness of the company’s products to its marketplace. It has also played an important role in encouraging designers to specify Franke products within their designs.

Custom Design for Atmosphere
Atmosphere is based in Windhoek in Namibia. They opened their first joinery workshop in 1989. Greg has vast experience of the ArtiCAD-Pro and ArtiCUT having worked for the company for nine years before leaving to pursue other interests. He has now re-joined and in addition to his sales role is also responsible for providing advanced technical on the company’s products. Greg combines his software expertise with hands-on practical experience, having also worked in a number of kitchen factories and as a kitchen fitter.
He is based at the company’s new office in Ballito, just outside Durban.
