Hettich’s entire range of kitchen based drawer storage – including four drawer finishes, runners and internal accessories – is now available within the industry-leading ArtiCAD-Pro software as the first part of Hettich’s membership of the ArtiCAD Supplier Partnership Programme.

Innovation throughout history

The company’s most recent introduction is the concept of ‘Intelligent Kitchens’, which Hettich believes will dramatically improve the efficiency, ergonomics and enjoyment of kitchen space. Hettich is working with ArtiCAD to bring the power - and reality - of Intelligent Kitchens to designers, manufacturers and others working in the KBB sector.

A 'zoned' approach to design

Intelligent Kitchens – the way ahead

Branded as ‘Intelligent Kitchens’, the concept is based on a clearly defined ‘zoned’ approach to kitchen design. This enables designers (and consumers) to achieve the optimum layout and use of accessories to ensure their resultant kitchen is efficient, practical and in complete harmony with the natural workflow of storing, preparing and cooking food.

Hettich’s Intelligent Kitchens concept is based on five clearly defined zones:

1. Food storage
2. Food preparation
3. Pots & Pans
4. Cleaning & waste disposal
5. China & Cutlery

Zoning in ArtiCAD-Pro

Each of the five Hettich Intelligent Kitchen zones is colour coded. These colour codes have now been incorporated into the ArtiCAD-Pro software to provide designers with an extremely easy means of utilising the Intelligent Kitchens approach for their designs. Not only are the colour codes used to identify the different zones within a kitchen design, but they are also used throughout the Hettich graphics catalogue in the software. Thus, for example, when a designer is planning the type of drawer inserts which would work best within a particular zone of the kitchen, all the relevant products (duly colour coded) are displayed for them to choose from. In this way, designers are able to see – literally at a glance - which Hettich products and accessories are designed for each specific ‘zone’ of the kitchen.

The ArtiCAD & Hettich Partnership

Each Supplier Partnership is individual and designed to make selling even easier – enabling designers using ArtiCAD to specify manufacturer-specific graphics in their designs, without having to pay any additional fee. In the case of the Hettich and ArtiCAD Partnership, the ArtiCAD design software itself has been customised to enable designers to take advantage of the Intelligent Kitchens principle. This customisation in no way restricts the design process but instead acts as a very welcome enhancement.
