ArtiCAD Version 14 to Launch in April
ArtiCAD Limited, the CAD software specialist for kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and home offices, announces that the latest version of its software (Version 14) will be released in April. It will also be on show at the BK Expo in May.
ArtiCAD 14 and BathCAD 14 will contain a number of major changes and enhancements. These include:
Velux window and staircase editor
Version 14 will allow designers, for the first time, to include Velux windows and different staircase designs.
Easier ways to find items to include in a design
Improved search facilities are combined with a new method of filtering choices to make it much faster and easier to find specific items. A new selection process for textures makes it easier to identify photo-realistic colours.
Saving and loading designs
In the new version, the software will prompt users to save all new or changed files which are associated with a design ? such as those for colour, materials, page layouts and pricing. When the saved file is loaded, ArtiCAD will automatically search for and open all these associated files.
Custom worktop editing
Worktops are automatically positioned onto cabinets as part of the normal way that the software works. With the new editing function, however, it will be possible to edit these standard worktops ? by extending them for breakfast bars, for example ? rather than having to replace them with entirely new worktops.
Page layout
It will be possible to rotate text and images so that they no longer have to be horizontal or vertical, but can be at interesting ?funky? angles - a particularly useful feature for presentations.
Realistic plan drawing
The plan drawing feature within ArtiCAD will be dramatically enhanced with the option to use lines of different thicknesses (to indicate external walls, for example) ? exactly as would be drawn by an architect.
Drag ?n Drop for groups
In the new version, items can be grouped together ? for example, a table, chairs and a bottle of wine can be classified as a single group ? and then dragged and dropped into a design, rather than having to drag ?n drop each individual item.
Warnings!
More and clearer warnings will indicate when a design conflicts with the structure of the room or items are overlapping. The software will automatically stop the user from continuing with the design until the error has been corrected.
Notes for Editors

A ?standard? kitchen design, including a plan and 3D visualisation can be produced in just ten minutes.
